Sammamish Club Member Spotlight: Ashleigh Morgan

Ashleigh Morgan, long time member at the Sammamish Club, is a stay at home Mom to her three children – Lexi (8), Brady (6), and Cali (5) – and a wife to her husband, Dan Morgan. Although her calendar is continuously busy with her kids’ schooling, sports and more, she still makes time for herself to hit the gym and stay active.

Sammamish Club: Do you have any hobbies?
Ashleigh Morgan: At this moment I have no hobbies. I am too busy with my kids and their busy sports schedule!

Sammamish Club: What inspires you towards fitness and a healthy lifestyle?
Ashleigh Morgan: My kids inspire me mostly towards wanting to be fit and live a healthy lifestyle. I hope by seeing me be active that they will also grow up wanted to be fit and active. I also want to be able to keep up with them as I get older!

Sammamish Club: Why did you choose to join the Sammamish Club over the other clubs in the surrounding area?
Ashleigh Morgan: I joined the Sammamish Club about two and a half years ago, right after moving here from North Carolina. I wanted to go to a club that had all the amenities such as swimming, indoor courts (at the time tennis, but now we use soccer fields), and having a kids club.

Sammamish Club: Susan Gunderson, Club Manager, mentioned that you enjoy group fitness classes, like TRX and pilates. Can you share why you enjoy the classes and how they are beneficial to your lifestyle?
Ashleigh Morgan: I like to do different things when I workout and I love the variety I get by doing TRX and pilates. By doing different workouts everyday not only does it make the workout go by faster, but my body responds better to changing it up.

Pilates Reformer
During a Pilates Reformer class you will be taken through a series of exercises focused on strengthening the core, stretching through the spine and hamstrings, and working on the alignment through your entire body. Typically you will begin with footwork as a warm up, move into a series of spine stretches, followed by some deep, focused core moves, and ending with a series dedicated to strengthen the muscles through your spine. After a class you should feel taller and leaner, lengthened and stretched, challenged and exhausted from being so mentally focused on each move and each muscle that relates to that move.
